Film Lesson- "Gandhi"

Mahatma Gandhi was a very famous pacifist leader. He was born in 1869 and died in 1948. He did not use violence to fight agaist the British. He wanted freedom from the bristish. To gain his freedom from the Bristish he used passive resitance. By using non-violence he made the british look bad because they were beating poor innocent people. He went to England to study to become a lawyer. He convinced Indian people to go on strikes and to boycott the clothing that the British. Gandhi made his own clothes and his followers did too. The effect of the boycott in India effected England alot, their economy droped. The protests and the boycott made Gandhi get into jail four times. Gandhi was in jail in 1922, 1930, 1933 and 1942. In the time that Gandhi was in jail, he was on hunger strikes. Gandhi won the fight against the British in 1947. At the end another country(Pakistan). He didn't want India to be sperated in two countries because of their religions. He belived that Hindu's and Muslims had equal power but the Muslims believe that they were better than the others. The Indian independence was caused by Mahatama Gandhi and if it wasn't for him India wouldn'tbe free. During the time that India was free Great Britain must have been in economic crisis because most of their economy came from India.
